My name is Joshua Bullock and I am currently a freelance animator, character concept artist, and comic book illustrator.
In 2014 I began a Youtube channel called Skylegend animation which as accumulated over 63,000 subscribers and over 8 million views. During the channels lifetime, I created multiple parody videos of popular games such as Five Nights at Freddy's.
In 2016 I worked for Smashbits Animation House in Evansville, Indiana. I worked for the company for 2 years where I produced multiple short animations for various client Youtube channels such as Arcade Cloud. Our client base is comprised of companies like Machinima, Omnia Media, Disney XD, Wild Brain, etc. I have also created a pilot called Uniforce and the pilot was entered in the Sundance Festival for 2017.
In 2018 I left Smashbits to pursue a career as a freelance artist. I have done various projects for clients from animations to comic book illustrations for children. Around this time I created, Black History Beats, Ghoul Sitters, and Monarchs. I was fortunate enough to work with some amazing students from the USF animation department on Black History Beats and Ghoul Sitters. Black History beats is about teaching young children black history from all over the world and mixing it with hip hop. It will cover a wide range of topics featuring some of the most prominent Africans and African Americans in history. The pilot for Black History Beats featured Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and went into a basic understanding of what he stood for. The project was inspired by School House Rock. The Black History Beats project was picked up by PBS and aired across the country during Black History month. Currently, I am working on the next episodes for PBS, who have shown great interest in the Black History Beats brand.
I was also able to work with several students on the pilot for Ghoul Sitters, which I got to pitch to Frederator, one of the most well-known animation companies in the country. Ghoul Sitters is about two friends, DeeJay and Heather, who create a babysitting business where they watch after some of the most monstrous and ghoulish children in town. Currently, students are helping me with the next phase of Ghoul Sitters, which will be pitched again to Frederator next year.
My final concept is a comic called Monarchs. Monarchs is about a boy named Ja'Khari and his best friend Pepper, who battle their way up the ranks to become the most powerful fighters in the galaxy known as the Monarchs. Over the course of the past year, Monarchs has been able to accumulate a huge following with over 11,000 followers on Instagram. Noir Caesar, a publishing company owned by a former NBA player, picked Monarchs up as one of their featured comics. I have two chapters completed with more releasing before the end of the year. I am also working with 212 Artlink on developing the Monarchs concept into a sellable animated series for television or streaming.
